Summary: Legolas never finds love in the books or movies, but what if it was him and not Aragorn who had fallen in love with the Evenstar? Note: Aragorn never falls in love with her for any responses to this. it is simply that Legolas did and he didn't.

Summary: Faramir, Aragorn and another man are buried alive by an avalanche. A few years after the War Aragorn, Faramir and another, Man or Elf (it could even be Boromir, if you like), are on some business up in the Mountains, when an avalanche descends on them. The three would either be in a hunter’s house or a large mountain cave, with a small supply of firewood and provisions, so they can last a few days. But there is extremely little hope of salvation, for the snow has dead-blocked all exits, and no one is likely to find and dig them out. You get the psychological atmosphere of the situation. All three are close friends, but no romantic relationships had arisen between them up to this point. But now… You know, desperation, depression, mad hopes, inescapable doom and no future… And then they just run out of fire-wood, and it’s winter up in the mountains. Up to you whether to make this into a tragic tale of hopeless love awakening only to be soon forever extinguished, as the frost takes them one by one – or have a happy end where at the last moment they are saved. You can also choose, of course, to have a bit of both, when not all of the company manage to make it through…

Summary: Write a tale based on the Flyleaf song, "Cassie." It should have character death, or mention of it.

Summary: Of all the hundreds of pairings out there, this is one I have only ever seen once, but believe could be a lot of fun. The Lady of Imladris and the famous Glorfindel, balrog slayer of Gondolin. If anyone agrees with me, give it a go! :) It can, of course, be any rating required, though I would personally prefer it to have a real story. Have fun!

Summary: Write about a place in Middle-earth or Earth you would like to either go yourself or put a character. It can be about anything and anyone, but make sure it's during the Christmas or Yule holiday.

Summary: This was part of a post in the forum of another LOTR site: If, Denethor and Boromir had somehow survived the War of the Ring, what would have happened? With Denethor still Steward and not Faramir, will there be civil war between him and Aragorn? If so, which side will the lords of Gondor, including Boromir, Faramir, and Imrahil, be on? A fascinating what-if... So, I just thought I'd share that little plotbunny. Do with it what you will.

Summary: It can be about anything, with any characters from LotR, but it has to have in it somewhere a song from either Red Dwarf or Monty Python. It'll be good to see what people come up with :)

Summary: We all know that Legolas promised to visit the caves of Helm's Deep with Gimli. Well, I want to know what happened there. Anything goes. Slash is accepted, even encouraged. :)
Categories: Book-verse Characters: Gimli, Legolas
Summary: One of the things that annoyed me about the LOTR movies was that they couldn't put everything from the books into the scripts—also that the movies were not entirely true to the books, but that's another age-long rant. The challenge is to take a scene that was either omitted/changed in the movies (e.g. Arwen in the place of Glorfindel, Tom Bombadil) or not acted out in the original texts (e.g. the parting of Elrond and Arwen) from the book and put it in its place in the movies. It MUST follow canon, though you can write it in screenplay format if you wish. Any characters, any ratings, you know the drill.

Summary:

Pity may have kept Bilbo from killing Gollum, but not everyone shares that compassion. Gollum died after leading the hobbits into Shelob's lair but before he bit the Ring off Frodo's hand.

What happens when Frodo decides to keep the Ring?

1. One-Shot Story (option one): Sam won't accept Frodo's decision. They've gone too far to fail now. Will he fight Frodo to destroy the ring himself? If he gets the Ring, will he be able to succeed where his friend failed?

2. One-Shot Story (option two): How does Gollum die? Who kills him and why? Was it Frodo? Did he finally go mad and kill the wretch so he'd stop trying to take the Ring? Did Sam, who knew the truth about Gollum's desire for the Ring, feel it was the only way to protect Frodo? Perhaps Sauron's servant (who sent him on an errand of mischief) discovered he failed and punished him for it?

Maybe Gollum wandered to the west side of the mountains in search of food and water or on another errand. Did Faramir find him wandering alone and assume he'd killed the two hobbits? Was it Legolas, who was angered by the shame Gollum brought to the woodland elves by escaping their dungeons? Or was he killed by someone completely unexpected?

3. Short Story: As Isildur's fate was drastically effected for the worse, so is Frodo's. What happens to the Hobbit? Describe everything from the moment he keeps the Ring until it arrives in Sauron's possession.

4. Novel-length Story: Frodo finds himself taken captive by Sauron's armies. Now the Dark Lord has his Precious back. What havoc does the hobbit's failure cause for Middle Earth's people? How does the land change in nature and civilization? How does the Ring get recaptured and destroyed?

For "extra credit", don't add Original Characters.

5. Other Inspiration: Tell another story inspired by and related to the basis of this challenge.

Summary: Which one of the character tell a story or something that happened in he/she past. Might something had happened and the character start to tell his tale. AU is fine by me. OOC if needed as well. Have fun in the writing, it is all that matters.

Summary: Faramir is in a relationship with one of the Elven twins – problem is, he can’t figure out with which one… The brothers are entirely alike in looks, voice and bearing, and he just cannot tell them apart. Perhaps, there is some small detail, like one of the Elves having an intimate piercing, or a tattoo done in special ink that only becomes visible when, you know… So Faramir would realise his mistake only when things already get pretty far down the road to bliss. The Steward is annoyed and perplexed, because he wants to be serious, and considers himself in love – but can he truly be in love when he cannot even properly identify the object of his passion…? He fails to understand the brothers’ motives either. Maybe they are frivolous about the whole thing and are just having fun taking turns jumping into his bed – or maybe they are actually having a competition over him, who can tell? Make it light and funny, or seriously angsty – up to you.

Summary: You can write about any pure friendship - between any mortals or immortals or whoever. Between Elves, Men, Dwarves, Hobbits - even Orcs if you're feeling brave! Keep it clean, preferably no romance as this is a friendship challenge!

Summary: Gollum/Smeagol died a terrible and gruesome death. But imagine, if you will, an alternate ending to Frodo's epic journey - what if our hairy-footed hero had managed to resist the call of the Ring and had destroyed it of his own free will? What would have become of Smeagol then?

Summary: Alright people! Good clean fiction, nothing explicit. It must be rolling on floor laughing worthy. You can use anything your mind can think of (maybe even mocking Mary and Gary Stues!!!)So again there really are no rules expect making it funny and nothing explicit. This should be interesting.
