It is highly unlikely that lava flows from Mt. Doom could be a threat to Ithilien. The level Gorgoroth plain extends about 50 miles from the volcano's base to the intervening foothills of the Mountains of Shadow. The more probable threat would be from a pyroclastic column carried westward by the prevailing winds, much as what happened when Mt. St. Helen erupted over twenty years ago.
