I love stories involving characters traveling through the woods and dales of Middle Earth. Your descriptions of Aragorn's journey are vivid and inspiring.
Author's Response: Thank you! Well, I wrote this partly to exercise my descriptive skills. Glad to know you liked it!
It's really beautifully described, and your story makes me want to go hiking, as reading Tolkien's work often does. You and he clearly share a sensitivity to the beauty of the natural world.
Author's Response: Thanks! Maybe it's the boy scout years, since I have spent lots of time in nature, especially in forest. When reading LotR or other Tolkien's works I always have liked his descriptions of nature.
Wow! This is an amazing story, I loved all the detail in describing his surroundings and the way he considors how small he is compared to the mountains. Brilliant story.
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! I'm something of an aesthete when it comes to nature. It took some trouble to think up how to describe all this in English.
Your idea of taking a personal alpine experience and transforming it into a Middle Earth tale was very well done. The title is well-chosen for Aragorn's journey through the High Pass and foothills of the Misty Mountains. I look forward to reading your other stories.
Author's Response: Thank you! When I was on that hike, the scenery was so stunning I was almost literally speechless. It is one of my best memories. I have always pictured the Misty Mountains being quite similar to the Alps, and when I remembered Aragorn's journeys to the east the idea came to me quite naturally. Because of my studies it may be some time until I write something again, but I try to find the time, because writing is so enjoyable.
