Great story, wonderful characterization.
I am so looking forward to the sequel set in Arthedain. - Gordis
Author's Response: Thanks, Gordis! The first chapter of the sequel On the Paths of the Fathers is already posted, and I hope to finish the whole story within this weekend. The action in Arthedain begins in the third chapter.
That was a very interesting and enjoyable story.
Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! I am happy you liked it. I am actually writing a sequel, set in the last days of Arthedain. It features Ereg, thirty years older, and his younger son.
You have clearly drawn on some of your own Basic Training experiences in the first chapter. Your description of soldiers in the washroom reminds me of my own early days in the army, when we were forced to wash with cold water because the person in charge of the boilers was too lazy to shovel coal and light the fire on time. A very good story, so far.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I did make use of my own service in the army. Sometimes it shone all too clearly through that the system is originally modelled on the Prussian army. I still think "Company - up!" in six o'clock in the morning is the most irritating thing you can hear. Good that you enjoyed the story, I hope you will like the other chapters as well.
