Very interesting, so far. I suggest you obtain a copy of Robert Foster's The Complete Guide to Middle Earth. It's an indispensible source of information for the budding LotR fan fiction writer. If possible, you should also upgrade your PC with Windows Word 2003. It makes writing and editing much easier.

An interesting beginning. It sounds like an entry from Eowyn's diary. Maybe you could add that as a footnote to give your story somewhat of an historical perspective. I look forward to the next chapter.
