I really enjoyed this. First of all it was very beautifully written. It was also very true to the idea that Grima could never have Eowyn. I don't think that she would have been able to survive very long in that situation anyway. The ending was bound to be tragic. What I really like is that Grima sees, in a sense, that he has been tricked. He betrayed his king in the hope that he would achieve his desires but in the end is left with nothing. You managed to make a powerful point in one chapter. Well done!
Author's Response: Thank you! I applogize it has taken me so long to reply to this, I do not reguarly check for reviews and so sometimes
quite a while can pass before I notice I have a new one on a story. I agree with you, even had it all gone the way
Grima wanted to, It still would not have changed the fact that Eowyn was too wild in spirit to even be wholly possessed
by him which I think is mainly why he wanted her so much, It is very much in man's nature to want what we cannot have.
Eowyn would have never been happy, in fact that she would be a captive to him would make her hate him all the
more and long to be rid of him. While Grima's betrayl according to canon did still have it's tragedies linked to it as
such as Theodred's death and the slaughter of many other good men I think it could have still been far worse had
evil triumphed and green lush Rohan would have been reduced to salted earth and ash. I think at some point in the story
Grima does realize that he has been tricked, but he was far too spineless by then to turn it around, he became nothing
more than a dog waiting on whatever his master commanded. I wrote another AU-ish story dealing with Grima but this
time after his death called "The Slave" which was written for a Halloween prompt, again it deals with Grima and the
"What if?" aspect of things. Thank you so much for review, It truly mean's a great deal to me :)
good, very good, some lovely imagry in this, Well done!
Author's Response: Thank you very much! I apprechiate your review and am so glad you enjoyed my little scary glimpse of what may havee been!
Loved it! Dark, but I like dark. Sad too. Keep writing!
Author's Response: Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. I have ever intention to keep on writing, I am usually at any given time working
on some story or another though when I finish it and publish it to the site is another story all together :) This I started
and finished last night, it is rare that it happens.
Ooh this is great Anwyn. Very dark, very sad, a glimpse of how it might have been.
I could not have seen it ending another way had this come to pass.
Author's Response: Thank you very much! Yes, I could not have seen things turning out any differently and anything that ever might have been
between them would have been in Grima's mind only and Eowyn would have hated him with a fiery passion for what he did
though I do not think she would have ended her own life by her own hand, she does not strike me as someone who would.
I am glad this did not come pass either becuase if it had it would have meant horrible things were happening elsewhere
in Arda but I was just focousing on the very small thread that Grima was promised Eowyn if he was loyal though there
is really nothing ever said by him to confirm it, I think it ws proably true and there would have only been one circumstance
that might have happened.
