Very well written. It shows the sadness of parting, and a family's love.

Author's Response: Thank you, Nessa. This is just an excerpt from a story in progress, somewhat surreal, incorporating events from my own life adapted for Middle Earth. Several of the characters are real family members and friends.

Author's Response: Thank you, Lisse. As I mentioned in the story notes, this is merely an excerpt from a short story that I've barely begun working on. It's on the shelf for now and I'm not sure exactly when I'll be working on it in earnest. I have a number of stories in progress at the moment and I work on them as my muse moves me.
