That's a very interesting idea, having Gandalf actually meet Smeagol pre-Gollum. I loved œThe Misty Mountains? œI have stood upon the summits of the snowy peaks and watched the eagles fly below me. Very evocative, that whole exchange. Maybe a tad much dialogue compared to descriptions in places, but that's just my personal preference.
