Oh - this is fabulous. It picks up a very much under appreciated aspect of LOTR; Elfhelm's 'understanding' with Dernhelm. I have just been re-reading that bit myself and wondering about it. Great ot find such a well written one shot.

Cursed formatting-demons - I've noticed them eating 'E's in other stories on the site!

Nice work with the under-used Elfhelm and his relationship with Eomer.

A touching and thought provoking story.I often wonderes about Elfhelm's role and Eomer's reactions to his sister leaving her post.The formatting on this site has taken all your accented "Es" with the result the story appears to be about omer and owyn.

I liked the touches of humour too.
