I enjoyed this a lot. I can picture this whole story out in my head it works very well, who cares if it's not canon! Namarie-Lady of the Lake
Author's Response: I'm glad that you did. It's nice when a reader can visualize everything they read like a film running in your head. I sometimes like to depart from a point in canon and then do my own take on it.
This is a sweet short story to warm the heart and bring a smile to your face. Thank you for writing this, and I hope you can work up more magic like this...Zirta
Author's Response: Thank you very much. It always makes me happy whenever any of my stories evokes the intended emotions in my readers. I will do my best to 'work up more magic'.
This was great! All the comeraderie between Gimli, Aragorn and Legolas was encased in a very concise chapter: The grim reality of the elf's condition, the ranger's healing skills put to the test, as well as his faith, and Gimli's vigil. My favorite part was where Aragorn never took his hand away from Legolas' chest, reassuring himself with the continued beating of his heart. The relief was like a great sigh as Legolas opened his eyes to behold his friends there for him, and even as grave as the elf's situation was, he would live to challenge Gimli's skills on the battlefield and probably to save Aragorn again.
Thanks for a wonderful story!
Author's Response: Thank you very much. It doesn't take much time to demonstrate the deep friendship between Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli. Your favorite part was also one of mine. I thought that it held a deep meaning for the ranger, and I believe that Legolas could somehow feel it, too. Not even a near death experience is going to stop that elf from being - that elf! :o) You are most welcome. I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Grrr, you'd better update quick! I love your stories, but i HATE cliffies! PLEASE!
Author's Response: I will update tomorrow (Wed). Thank you very much. I'm afraid that you're a victim of my evil plot bunny, who *loves* cliffies.
My favorite fics are the ones of the closeness of these 3 characters (or just Aragorn and Legolas), and this one is an excellent example of that friendship. The "contest" of numbers is one way that Legolas and Gimli show their admiration for one another, and Aragorn has his elfin upbringing in common with Legolas. Legolas' sharp eyes and quick movements did not have the intended effect, however, and he is gravely wounded with only Aragorn's swift decision between him and death. As Gimli and Aragorn look helplessly on, their friend's life hangs in the balance, and all they can do is encourage him to fight for it.
I look forward to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Mine, too, and thank you very much. I'm glad you like the story so far. You have summed up the friendships very nicely. Legolas tried to save himself, as well as Aragorn, but ended up having to sacrifice himself, which he gladly did. If anyone can pull Legolas back from the Halls of Mandos, those two can. The next chapter will reveal if they are successful or not. I will update in a couple of days.
ARGH update soon! Pretty please! I cant let him die! NooO lol nice wolf cant wait for the next installment, i'll be waiting
Author's Response: I will post Chapter Two next week, and then you will know what happens to Legolas and whether or not I'm really a nice wolf. :o)
