Vanimórë's Arda is a canon-based AU, which in this case means that Middle-earth history and canon characters written of are taken from the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, the History of Middle-earth books, and Lord of the Rings. My interpretation is non-canon, as, of course, are the OC's.
Heed the warnings and rating. This is Adult-rated slash AU darkfic and incest is a thread throughout the stories.
Also, my writing? Old-fashioned, wordy. I love words, but that style isn't for every-one. Luckily - my list of Recommended authors is on here :D

If you read or write Silmarillion-based stories and love the tragic, magnificent characters of the Elder Days, check out the

Running through August and September.
Thank you so very much
Kenaz, Elfscribe, and
Pandemonium_213 for awarding me this token as part of the Silmarillion Writers Guild Fifth Birthday. :)

(Any-one would think I write Darkfic ಠ_ಠ )
Reason they are up on this site? I review on the SWG, but I don't actually post my stories there, so I am not sure if I am
really entitled to these tokens, but I am thrilled. :)

Recommended author pages with podcasts on OFC's/Women in Tolkien, and slash, with links and story excerpts

Links to quality archives and sites of interest
Thanking the authors who were kind enough to email me their erudite, thoughtful answers to the questions I asked about slash and OFC's, and then recorded as podcasts. My aim is to allow the incredibly talented, intelligent authors within the fandom to share their thoughts on these two most vilified subjects, and which they write, of course, brilliantly.
The webpage has very kindly been loaned to me by
Esteliel.

Order of reading, if you are interested. (Otherwise skip this and have a look at my recommended authors list. *g*
Recommended Authors List ~ Dark Prince Webpage
Recommended Fanfiction-Tolkien related sites ~ Dark Prince Webpage
(Both lists are organic)
(All stories, including the Arc of Fire, are set within the Dark Prince AU.)
The Dark Prince series:
Dark Prince
Earthblood (which takes place in the south after the Last Alliance - WIP.)
Dark Lands
Dark Blood
Dark Lands and
Dark Blood were written co-cooperatively with
Anwyn, telling the stories from the point of view of her Original character.
Dark God
Weapons Of The Gods ~ Dark Prince V (WIP)
~
The Arc of Fire series:
I Will Lead And Thou Shalt Follow
Lords of the Light
Lords of the Light is First and Second Age, and is Elf-centric, however as Vanimórë appears in it, Dark Prince I should be read first.
The Power and the Passion
A Trinity of Princes takes place within The Power and the Passion, and was a birthday gift-fic for the brilliant
Esteliel.
Magnificat of the Damned (WIP)

I cannot thank these authors enough for all the immense pleasure their works have given me. They have stirred me, twisted me into knots, saddened me to tears, made me shout at the screen in approbation or abuse, made me think deeply about the characters and their personalities and motivations. These writers have given vivid life to both canon and original characters to a degree that is rarely seen in published works.
To me, these works surpass most published books that are lauded as 'Excellent.'
(If you are excellent and not on here, I have not read you yet, but I will. This list is subject to additions and updating all the time.)
I have read a great deal since joining the fandom and yes, many of these names I have recommended from about this time in 07. That is not because I am a bore who refuses to read new works. I read new works every week, but as with published books, I always have a core that I read, and re-read, replace if necessary and which never bore me no matter how many times I read them; I discover new subtleties all the time. So it is with these authors.
These are mostly long works or series with the exception of a couple, as these authors excel in creating their own world within Middle-earth and fill the breadth and space longer works permit with the power of their stunning imaginations and wordsmithing. Every one is different in style, every one is superb.
The links go to the authors bio or home-page, as their works have different ratings. Please heed these.
The best thing I have found in fanfic, beside the stories of course ! is the pleasure I get in reviewing and recommending authors. If you love a story, please spend a few minutes in commenting. I did not realize when I discovered the fandom how much it means to a writer to be publicly appreciated.
Esteliel
Esteliel has hooked me completely from since first reading her. Her series is not all about sex, despite the warnings and ratings, in fact it is a very skillful and thought provoking look at what is basically Stockholm Syndrome and how and why that can develop into love. The way the characters relationships develop from a terrible beginning is enthralling, deeply moving, and sympathetic, steamy and addictive. Any-one perceiving at this as just a kinky slash fic has missed the point entirely. I love this series. It is one to read and re-read. I can no longer pair Legolas or Glorfindel with any-one else; the series has influenced me to that degree.
Highly recommended.
Kenaz
Kenaz' writing is
gorgeous, elegant. It's like drinking a very good wine. Wonderful descriptions, her portrayal of the differences between the Elven realms and their customs is absorbing, and authentic. Her characters are beautifully realized, her dialogue wonderful. Reading her humbles me to dust.
oshun
To me
A New Day (MEFA 2008 First Place, Longer Works: General) is the ultimate Maedhros and Fingon' story. It's the story I wanted to read about them when I was still in my teens. She has a talent for writing characters and settings which make me think I open a door into that time and place and just sit and watch the tale play before me. I also adore her Maglor and Daeron pairing.
16/02/2010 Elfscribe - only just discovered and brilliant.
Elegy For Númenor is superb, and
I must also recommend her Swordspoint fic
Windfall
(I highly recommend Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint - main pairing M/M. She is a brilliant author and Elfscribe's fic is
wonderful. It goes without saying her Tolkien work is.)
Surgical Steel
Steel has created a real, earthy, immensely appealing character in her
' The King's Surgeon.' A spiritually strong woman, with a heart; clever and courageous, a real gem with foibles and flaws and keen intelligence set within a enthralling story. Also co-writes with Pandemonium_213
Pink Siamese
Pink is a phenomenal writer, frighteningly talented. She also writes the steamiest het erotica I have ever read. Reading her over a year ago confirmed in me that some of the best writing is on the net, not published and on bookshelves.
22/02/2010 Lilith Lessfair
Sauron as a Dark Lady. You think this cannot work? You will change your mind after reading. Stunning. And much more to come.
Narya
For all your OC's in Second Chance and Three (I cannot believe you are but a year older than my neice !)
Glorfindel
This writer is prolific, witty and engrossing - and very clever. Her Dark Judgment enthralled me and also made me laugh. I have to love her Sauron. :D
Pandemonium_213
Tolkien's science does not work. :) In the Pandë!verse it does. :D
Some stories take such a different approach to Tolkien that they force those of us who like reading outside the box to stretch the boundaries of our imagination even further; to lay aside the 'absolutes' that we *know* within Tolkien's writing. Pandemonium's works portray Sauron in a way that is impossible to reject, a creator, a scientist, a genius. Her science is written in a way that even I can understand and both her original and canon characters characters are vivid and human and *real*.(Sauron/Marc Remillard. That is so perfect I don't even know where to begin !)
Moreth
Very, very clever, very witty, and with descriptions that can explode into vivid beauty, this author's ficlets leave one wanting to read a novella by her. Like, now :) Like Pandemonium she has a unique view of some of Tolkien's most vilified characters.
Amaranth
Amaranth has been a great support to me from the first. She said she couldn't write. Haha. Her ficlet,
The Elf in the Mirror ( NC17 slash ) is only a taster. She is working on a couple of long stories.
Independence 1776 Silmarillion-based fiction. Keep an eye out for her forthcoming story of Maglor
Encairion This author has written a Modern-day person goes to Middle-earth with a black woman protagonist, which is far higher in quality than most such stories, and is also not a Tenth Walker, but she really unfurls her talent in her First Age and far more adult-oriented stories.
Eldalie
Beautiful writer of original Female Characters, and her First Age stories evoke all the tragedy, passion and pain of that age.
24/02/2010 Angmar and Elfhild. Specficially, the Triumph of the Shadow; an epic look at what might have happened had Sauron won the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
Jael
For Thranduil and the Elves remaining in Middle-earth.
Darth Fingon
Children of Lindórinand is superb and thought-provoking, and there is much else I have not yet read.
Aislynn Crowdaughter
Slave-fic, an evil Elrond, a sadistic Aragorn, Legolas bound by a frightful spell? How does it work? It works because the AU constructed by the author ticks like a Swiss watch. It is reasoned and logical - and very disturbing.
Ignoble Bard
I love Ignoble Bard's slash. It is elegant, erotic and beautiful. His Fait Accompli had me gaping at the screen at the end, I was so floored. He simply never fails to produce profoundly lovely erotica.
Beruthiel's_cat
Celebrian's Journal is an epic story leading up to and including the Dagor Dagorath. She is one of the few authors who can write
Epic fantasy and believable and vivid characters.
Los Gloriol
I adore this authors gorgeous Tolkienesque language, since I fell in love with it in the Silmarillion. It is very similar to the King James Bible and having been brought up with it, I found it instantly familiar. Los Gloriol captures this wonderfully, and her work in the Valian years of the Trees has the absolute essence of Tolkien's antique prose.

And lo! The Big Edit, it doth continue, and yea and verily, it is killing my eyes.
Should have written drabbles. Oh well, too late.
Okay, the editing will never actually be finished, even when the Big Edit
is finished, because I will always pick.

This does not belong on an essay, but I would like to say it...thank-you so very much to all of you who have taken the time to comment on a story, or have made a story I've written a favorite of yours. I am humbled.
I would never have written any fanfic were it not for two wonderful women, Amy in Texas, and Sarah, in South Wales. We role-played together from soon after the first LOTR film came out, and it was they who gave me the encouragement, space and motivation to write male characters. Thank-you so much, girls. HUGS.
I want to also thank
Anwyn so much. She also used to role-play. I don't know any-one else who came from role-play into fanfic, but at that time, I did not even know fanfic existed.

I make no claim on a son of Sauron, (naturally, there must be thousands of them) but the AU of the Dark Prince series is my own creation within J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, and Vanimórë, Elgalad, Tindómion and any other original character's are © to myself 2004 - 2010. These stories and characters may not be used elsewhere or reproduced in any form without my permission. If you want to write Van, etc seriously, just ask :)
The following authors can write within the AU with my goodwill:
Esteliel,
Amaranth,
Beruthiels_Cat,
Anwyn and
Gemini_Elf.
All I ask is that people write the characters in character. :)
Certain ideas, pertaining to embodiment of the Flame Imperishable, the Great Music and the latter fate of the Silmarils are the intellectual property of Beruthiel's_Cat, who has been kind enough to allow me to use them, as they fit in with earlier hints and ideas in the stories. Thank-you so much Cat.

I am a Tolkien nerd of 22 years. I write and love slash, because I see it in Tolkien canon and always have. There are some pairings where the chemistry always seemed to seethe and so now I write it.
A huge hug and thanks to Esteliel who wrote a really hot ficlet of Van, Elgalad and her Legolas from the Cuil Eden stories. d;-)
Laurië Celvarmólet ( Two Golden Pets ) and also her other crossover with the Fëanor I write in my AU and Legolas
Fëanorion Toys . I love her birthday present fic to me.
Keeping Legolas Company Van and Elgalad have much more fun in her ficlets than the angst I put them through. :D. ( Heed the warnings! All Esteliel's work is NC17 slash )
Beruthiels_Cat
has also written a ficlet which brings Van and Elgalad briefly together long after Elgalad's death.
Eclipse Rated R slash. And
The Remembrance of Days to Come A beautiful story of how Van came by his strange tattoos and has all the sorrow and mysticism and destiny of his future life woven into it. And set later
The Reckoning of Time which answers some of the questions about the main characters which can be linked back to my material, but which Cat has written (It's therefore her intellectual property) and it fits so very well.
Thank you to the authors so much. You thrill me!( And humble me.)

I'm posting things in memory of my Grandmother, Edith Mary Lloyd who wanted me to try and improve and write a novel one day. Well, I have, in a sense, with the Dark Prince stories, at least it is something which I finished for the first time ever.
God Bless, Nan.
A friend of the family, my b/f and myself have made ( and are still making ) a site devoted entirely to IBS, undoubtedly the sexiest theme for a site in the multiverse d;-) So if I am not writing about Valar and Elves I am writing about IBS. o_O Sexy, amirite?
However, it also deals with conditions which may trigger or exacerbate IBS, written from my own experience, including depression and panic attacks.
Vanimórë and the others would like to state they are not involved in that. At. All. XD
I live in the West Country, (UK) with my partner, Kevin, and a collie-cross called Billy. I started writing ofic at 10-11, but when I read the Silmarillion at 16, I fell in love with Middle-earth, or rather the beauty and tragedy of the Elves. Every fantasy I wrote had what were really *Elves* in them, which was fine, since Elves are part of mythology, but the doom and glory of the Elder Days had hooked me. I certainly could not better it, but I wanted to expand on it, so, after about 20 years of reading Tolkien and role-playing, I had a story dropped on me that I felt I could try and write. I never had half as much fun writing ofic as fanfic and have found some of the best writing in the world in fanfiction. Conversely, I have taken 8 books at a time back to a library due to being underwhelmed and bored with all of them. There are some superb writers in the Tolkien fandom, and I will continue supporting them. :)
