If ever again I lay my eyes upon a story featuring an evil, abusive, greedy, foul, tyrannous, betraying, selfish, power-hungry, red-eyed monster by the name King Thranduil, I will rake my eyes out with my bare fingernails and shall send forth my Shieldmaiden form to hunt the author of so foul a tale down! Learn the true knowledge, you fools, ere you start telling the tale of one whose nature you know nought of! And be warned that I stand guarding the gates of the Elvenking's Halls, protecting both he and his fair son from the clutches of your kind! Long live Oropherion Thranduil, whose name shall be dropped from the lips of bards for many Ages to come!
If you just failed to understand what the previous few sentences said, you are not worthy of writing Lord of the Rings fanfiction. And that's only the first part of the test.
I'll try to make this quick.
I often go by Maethril, and like to pretend I'm from Mirkwood, or Edoras, or anywhere else that appeals to me. I am especially fond of works that remain true to canon, in all fandoms. I love all realistic Legolas, Thranduil and Fëanor romances (though none of them are common enough for my liking). I do admit that I may have a slight crush on Maedhros, son of Fëanor, along with the other millions of fangirls that would drool over him. No, don't you dare roll your eyes at me!
As I've already hinted very slightly, I do mind the general portrayal of the Elvenking Thranduil in Tolkien fanfiction. I could rant about a million other things right now, but I'm sure you all have better things to do with your lives, so I'll leave you to it.
Anyway, I hope you have fun looking around here, and I hope to see reviews from you in future :-)
