Ha! I only now noticed that you post here:) Well, prank gone wrong. I wonder how often that has happened in the past (they seem to very prone to having bad luck) and how long the morale they have learned here will last. If I have to be honest, I'd have to say I hope not that long, because otherwise there wouldn't be such wonderful fic to read!

Author's Response: Hey, Michelle. Are you here, too? I imagine with those four friends involved, things have gone wrong more than a few times. Is it bad luck, or just the attention of angst writers? :o) Considering how many of the aforementioned angst writers there are, you don't have to worry about our guys stayng out of trouble for very long. There'll be lots to read.

What a joyride! Well, at least for the reader. I don't think Aragorn and Legolas had that much fun:)

And I'd love to see Elrond's face when they finally make it to Rivendell! It's sure to be a Kodak moment:)

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the story. As you pointed out, I don't think L & A were too thrilled. As for Elrond, you know he gave our guys a stern lecture, plenty of his special tea and of course, the dreaded eyebrow.

Title: Chapter 1: Chapter One Reviewer: Michelle Signed
Hi! I'm catching up on the Teitho stories from last month (and yes, I *do* realize I'm awefully late...). I liked this, especially because of the what if-feel you usually have in time travel stories. What if that character doesn't die as he's supposed to? What if he survives? That's always fascinating to me - all the repercussions one small act can have. And truly, to Legolas that wasn't an earth-shattering experience. But to the girl it was all that mattered.

Author's Response: Hi, Michelle. I know all about catching up. :o) I\'m glad you liked my little tale. I am also fascinated with ‘what if’ stories. We never know how many future events turn on one small act. I\'m glad my idea of the main event in this story being so important to one character and net even remembered by another came through clearly. It was important to me that the woman was able to resolve that difference in her own mind and find peace about it. Thanks.

Very interesting premise! I carefully read through your introduction, because I know absolutely nothing about Fullmetal Alchemist, but even that short "who's who" seems to have helped wonderfully, because I'm not feeling lost at all!

I like crossovers - I like the clash of cultures and you're already providing that in a fascinating manner. Beregon truly is totally lost - but at least he's got a few "friends" who are more than willing to help (and eventually understand) him. He hasn't understood the first rule about foreign languages, though: You don't learn if you don't speak:) I hope he soon find the trust he needs to open up a bit!

Author's Response: I\'m glad the intro helped! I was a bit hesitant about using it at first, truth be told. And, yes... he eventually gets around that problem. :)

Title: Chapter 8: Alchemy Reviewer: Michelle Signed
Ah, now we come to the Tolkien/alchemy quote you put in the beginning of the fic and I'm curious how you're going to fit the two theories together. And I wonder why Beregond has this feeling of deja vu.

Though, as someone who's based in the LOTR universe and not Fullmetal, I would have loved to read a little more about the transmutation reactions they showed Beregond - just to see how this actually works in that universe.

BTW: I loved the little tidbit about the guys trying to find out whether Beregond was his first or last name. Call me weird, but I always found it immensely funny that most of our beloved LOTR-characters managed to go through life with only one name (okay, except for Aragorn, who tends to float towards the other extreme *g*).

Author's Response: Now we come to it. There are going to be several things that will connect the two worlds, and they will be revealed as Beregond keeps searching. I have to admit that I kinda implied how things worked in reactions. Basically, an alchemist draws an array on the ground or on any objects he wants to transmute, then places a hand on it to activate. Some bypass the drawing process by having the circle handy as a tatoo. Ed doesn\'t need any circles. Yeah, that was something that I found funny too - there wasn\'t any character who happened to have the same name with another! *lol*

Title: Chapter 12: The Letter Reviewer: Michelle Signed
Nice twist with Riza - I certainly hadn't expected that! I wonder whether the similarity is coicidence or something more sinister. I'm believing the latter to be true - though I can't really come up with an explanation WHY Riza would look so much like his late wife. I'll simply let you surprise me, I guess:)

By now, I'm really looking forward to Ed and Al finding out more (aka the truth) about Beregond. He can't fool them forever. He seems to remember certain parts of his life perfectly well and he is not at all bothered by his assumed amnesia. I don't think El will connect the dots himself and come up with the theory that Beregond came from another dimension/world/time (that's reaching), but he should be cautious as to what information Beregond shares and what he keeps to himself...

Also, thanks for clearing up the alchemy parts!

Author's Response: Glad to have been of help. You\'re right, there\'s some kind of reason behind the likeness, as well as some other coincidences that Beregond will come across. And you\'re right, Beregond can\'t keep fooling Ed and Al forever. Certainly not when he\'s answering about his past without hesitation when he claims to have amnesia. Ed will soon confront him about that.

Oh, thank you so much that you reviewed "Drink Down the Sun", because now I know where you post and can review your story (I tried, but there are too many Rias up there).

I loved this a lot. The little corner of the fandom where I usually write can use a little more canon-romance, so this was a nice change of pace for me. Aragorn's last line was the best. He can be such a romantic when he wants to be! Arwen is a lucky gal indeed!

I love the prose in this. I can't even put my finger on *what* it is exactly. But doesn't matter, this read very smoothly and that's always a good thing!

Author's Response: Thanks. I\'m a big fan of canon romance myself, and I wish more people wrote it. (I\'m sure someone out there is writing slash for Beren, because they just don\'t get the whole Beren- Luthien thing *headdesk*) I have a ff account, but I haven\'t gotten around to putting the stories up on it.

Amazing. First - I never saw the connection before, but the beginning sounds a lot like Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt. That thought never occured to me while reading the Silmarillion (okay, I'm excused since I'm an atheist, but still), so your story helped me see a new aspect of Tolkien's writing. If that isn't what fanfic is for, then I don't know:)

Then, having grown up with fantasy, esoterics and fortunetelling, I liked the twisted way the palantir worked. Elendil wasn't quite accurate enough in his command to the seeing stone, so the palantir showed him what he wanted to know - but by taking a few turns and bends. Exactly how I would imagine seeing the future works - if it works at all:)

Author's Response: Thanks, Michelle. You know, I didn\'t think of that connection explicitly while I was writing the story, but Tolkien must have. On my most recent rereading of the Silmarillion, I was really struck by how little encouragement the Faithful must have had.

Ah, the intrigue! This is actually how Tolkien thinks ME fits in with our own reality, isn't it (assuming the Fullmetal universe is "our own reality", which of course is quite unlikely in itself).

And, as you can see, I'm finally back:)

Author's Response: So I see! Welcome back! :D

Title: Chapter 3: Questions Reviewer: Michelle Signed
Fascinating! I guess this would even be more mind-shattering if I had more of a grasp of the Fullmetal-universe, but even so this is a fascinating read. I love your attempt to blend both worlds together, trying to find a common ground in alchemy. If what Beregond assumes is right then he would "simply" have timetravelled forward. The question is: why!?

Author's Response: You're right, he did timetravel forward in a way. You'll find out why and how soon enough. ;)

Oh, a lot of stuff is happening! Fawcette will no go away so easily (or quietly) and I fear he'll prove to be a jackass at the most inappropriate time!

Love the rather philosophical stuff on gods and deities and what it might all mean in Beregond's case. I'm curious to know how this will all connect to the Ishbalans.

Author's Response: All in good time. ;)

Uohhhh. Such a little fiend. I was just about to like the kitties (because that's what I do: liking ALL cats), but it's spying on our hero and that's definitely not good!

Also, I've been thinking about the title or how Ed&Al and Beregond are both deep in their research - apart from each other. Does that mean they won't meet up in this part of the story? Because Beregond seems to really miss his friends *pouts*.

Author's Response: They will. Eventually. ;)

Title: Chapter 12: Ad Arcana Reviewer: Michelle Signed
That was a fantastic chapter! I think I've said before that what intrigues me about crossovers is the attempt to make two different universe blend and work together. And this chapter was such a perfect example of that principle. It was a pure joy to follow your line of thought, draw connections and come to your own conclusions!

Author's Response: I have to admit that this one is one of my favourite chapters, but also the most difficult to write too because of all the research I had to do. XD But the more I read, the more things I dug up and I just had to put them in here. I'm glad you liked it. :D

O wow, how can you leave us hanging like that? I'm really dying to know what Ed actually meant to say to Al!

There are so many things you will have to cover in part three. Ed's dreams, Beregond's alchemy, more ME-mythology, evil Fawcette and his minions and so on. Can't wait to get started on that! I must say, I really like Scar. Write a big role for him, pretty please:)

Author's Response: Yeah, if the third part doesn't kill me in the making, I'll be able to survive through anything. XD And as the story goes, Scar's part will get bigger too. :)

Re Chapter 11: I was wondering why Saruman was able to deceive both Galadriel and Elrond. But now I think it has to do with the rings. It would explain the slow death of the elven realms that Gandalf (Rivendell) and Legolas (Lorien) note. And it would explain why Legolas and obviously Arwen see a different future for Estel. By the way, I loved that you included Arwen - had not expected that. It's a mix between canon and your own ideas and that read very natural. Estel's awestruck reactions and Arwen's etheral appearance, all in all it was a beautiful scene!

Title: Chapter 1: Wherever the Surge May Sweep Reviewer: Michelle Signed

When looking for a good story, you know your usual suspects. But then coming across an author whom you've never before seen in fandom, only to find that she managed to write a story with so many fresh and gripping ideas: Priceless! I enjoyed this *so* much - well, apart from the days when I refused to read on because I was a wee bit afraid of where you were going to take the plot. But with me that's always a good sign, storywise, because it's saying a lot about the talent of the writer!

I'm a fan of AUs, and this one was convincing from beginning to end. It's a LOTR in fast-forward, everything happens a lot faster (or much earlier) than it's supposed to be and I guess that factors into the tidalwave of evil and hopelessness. I can see all of that happen, all the characters were in-character for me. And even Elrond, whom I tried NOT to despise so much was a logical extension of his canon-self. But especially I liked Legolas in this. I love when he's written as a strong character. And I guess he doesn't get any stronger than in this story. He's determined and loyal to the point of giving himself up. He's admirable...

I'd love to see more of this. I have a few suspicions about where this story might turn (I tend to believe Arwen in this - a lot of darkness before the light), but I'm sure you already know how the story end. This is such a heavily plotted story, I can't imagine you haven't come up with the final scene yet:)

Thank you for such a fantastic read! Your story blew me away!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for taking time to read and review! This story was a labor of love that wouldn\'t leave me alone even after I had moved onto new fandoms.\r\n\r\nOne of the big things I tried to do in this story was keep it close to canon - to make sure I stayed as close to Tolkien as possible so that the places I diverged would have all the more impact. I really wanted to make people see where Elrond was coming from, he was never evil, just determined to do what was right in his mind. The character of Legolas was tricky because I had to take more of a leap with him growth wise than any other character. Book/Movie Legolas is much lighter than this one - and that\'s just the beginning. So thank you so much for saying you liked his character. I have to admit, he frustrated me in this story and even now, I see more of his faults than strengths.\r\n\r\nThis story is plotted all the way through since pretty much chapter three - though it has changed greatly since then. The final scene is definitely planned - something I hope will wrap up my story and pay homage to the original end. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thanks so much for your kind words. It\'s always nice to know that someone else in enjoys what you\'re writing!

Hi back!

I'm definitely with you on the canon question. You don't have to know anything about canon to write AU, but generally what comes up will be something so warped it has nothing to do with the original universe. Not at all interesting, in my opinion. But when someone knows all his facts and *then* sits down and writes an AU something fascinating will surely come out. Because only then you can do the source and the characters justice.

I'm also reccing the hell out of this story, so I hope a few readers will stop by:)

ROFTL, I always thought most of the stuff the characters are wearing in LOTR is MOST impractical - especially the wizards and the elves. All those hems and long sleeves, they just beg you to dip them in the food you meant to eat. That's probably why they're all immortal. It takes a few lifetimes to managed clothing like that elegantly!

Oh, and do you know the "Istari White" comic? Fits your ficlet perfectly...

Author's Response: I agree! I love long, flowing outfits myself, but as a rather clumsy person, I just don\'t have the time to check my every move for my hem. I don\'t know \"Istari White\" -- I\'ll check it out.
