After I first discovered( or watched) the Lord of the Rings in the year that the Two Towers came out, I fell into fan fiction writing. Summary: A dark AU tale (bookverse) in which Merry holds Frodo captive at Crickhollow "for the salvation of the Shire." Merry will be corrupted, Frodo will begin to break, Sam will fight to save him, Pippin will be forced to choose sides, and all four hobbits will be challenged in unexpected ways. Though the ending will be hopeful, this story travels dark roads.

Oh boy, Pippin's in a sort of bad spot. On the one hand, he wants to help Frodo, while on the other, he wants to do what Merry says. I like it how you put it through Pip's perspective.
Merry's not acting himself though, suppose that's what got Pippin in such a spot.
