A very fun and interesting Round Robin.  I will have to give it a few days thought, but I am quite sure I will add to this.

It's disheartening sometimes to run across that disdainful attitude towards fanfic--I think you handled it well.

And one thing alwasy occurs to me, when someone is so vociferous about what a terrible waste fanfic is: "methinks thou dost protest too much."  I always wonder if they are actually hiding their own reading habits...

After all, most people don't even know what fanfic *is*!

Author's Response: Hmm...I hadn't actually thought about that! I wonder if she does have an account somewhere, secretly! Please do add to the Round Robin, I'd love to hear your thoughts - and thank you for reviewing :)

Oh, I'm always delighted by stories about the friendships between the lads as children!  And I especially love them when they show how close Frodo and Merry were.

He knew that Merry sensed his pain- the little lad saw, heard, and felt everything. Merry crawled into his lap and squeezed his hand, his flaming anger reduced now to only ashes, replaced with his innate desire to comfort. Frodo squeezed back and murmured,

“You may not know it now, but you’ll understand someday. I promise.”

Merry nodded and buried his face in Frodo’s chest, finally giving in to his tears. He wept for all he was worth while Frodo rubbed his back in small circles and stroked his curly hair as he murmured, “I’m going to miss you, too, dear one.”

And I also loved the part where Frodo threatened the bullies with Gandalf!  That was just too funny and cute!

The only little problem I could see was it being slightly AU to canon about their ages--but your change was so small compared to the way *some* people do it that I didn't really mind it.

Author's Response: Thanks for your lovely comments! I thought hard about the exact way I wanted Frodo's threat to the bullies to come out. I'm rather proud of the earthworm thing, myself! :) Sorry if the ages were a little off, I usually put a warning on my notes about that but this time I didn't catch it. Personally, it's more important to me to stick by exactly what you want to come across in the story than worry about being completely Tolkien about things like ages. Thanks again and keep reading and reviewing! -Traveller

My! These are lovely--they really show the deep love of the cousins!  I especially like the "turnabout" in the last one. A very nice twist!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I thought the "turnabout" was necessary to show that Merry is not the only one that does the comforting in their relationship. Keep reading and reviewing! -Traveller

This has the promise of being very cute and funny!

I don't think the modern tone is inappropriate in humor, in fact it's similar to the humorous tone a couple of my favorite writers use in their hobbity stories.

It's also wise to explain the workings of your AU at the beginning.  And thanks for the mention of my age chari!

Author's Response: I'm glad you think the modern tone works. I was honestly really worried because Hobbits are just so, I don't know, rustic, I guess, and old-fashioned. Although this is supposed to be a humor story, I really didn't want to sacrifice these important aspects of Hobbit culture. And for some reason, whenever I think in first-person-Frodo, I sometimes think in a slightly dryly humorous tone. Writing fanfics does weird things to people, lol. Maybe it's because we never got to see much of the true Frodo in the books or movies (because he was possessed by the Ring). I always think of him being kind, gentle, and goldenhearted, most of the time. But everyone has their off-days, and that's where the dry humor comes in. That chart truly is amazing- thanks so much! I didn't want to confuse anyone, so I supposed explaining my slight abberations from the generally accepted LotR universe would be a good idea. I'm glad you're liking it and thanks for the review! -Traveller
