Not so sure I approve of Haldir basically blackmailing Calavene into sleeping with him...I understand his fear an reluctance to love again, but that wasn't right. I hope he can make up for the terrible way he's treated her!
Author's Response: He did it so that she would go to Mebedir, having realised he was not good enough for her. but he did not expect her to come that night. he does love her so when he saw her like that, all logical thought went out the window :)
Oh dear...an elfling! Haldir's elfling! He will be beside himself with joy...well, once he gets to Calavene and confesses his love for her, which can't be soon enough for me!
Author's Response: I hope you could wait a little longer since the plot still needs to unfold :) there is still the battle of pelennor fields to write about and a familiar face will inject some drama hehe
I loved the image of the great warrior Haldir cuddling his little elfling son...very sweet. :)
Author's Response: i think in every man, there is that desire to have a little version of themselves, haldir included. Since he is a great warrior, he would want to have a son to teach him everything he knows :)
Interesting how everyone is making assumptions about Haldir's feelings...I would think that him desperately trying to find Calavene would signal to everyone how much he cared for her...at least Legolas should understand. I'm curious to see what's going to happen next.
Author's Response: assumptions will happen if you dont say what you really feel. People will assume sometimes to come to terms with their grief or to stay blindly content with their happiness. Things should be interesting. I promised character death, so be prepared :) thank you for your review :)
A character death?! You can't...not Calavene...or Haldir and definitely not their elfling! :( This is already heartbreaking enough without that!
Author's Response: I can't tell you that can I? but i'm ending the story in 30 chapters so, we still have a few more to go. Rest assured i will not leave you with a broken heart...
Wow. You really killed her! I thought maybe she'd somehow survive...this is heartbreaking! I hope Haldir doesn't become bitter from this experience, but instead becomes the best Ada for his little Mallen Maethor.
Author's Response: I have a feeling he will...two more chapter before this is over. I hope you guys will have some closure and perhaps not be so sad when the end is revealed :)
Wonderful story! There is just not enough Haldir fanfic out there and this is terrific! While I'm glad he's found some happiness with Nieriel, I'm aching for him to be with his soul mate Caladwen...I hope he doesn't have to wait too long! :)
Author's Response: Haldir makes a wonderful subject doesn't he. He is haughty and stubborn and everyone loves a badboy. Nieriel will tame him to a degree but he will not change much... yet. It's always nice to hear from a new reviewer and I appreciate your comments. Thanks for your kind words and I hope you will follow along. There is much more on its way.
Wow! What a bunch of revelations for Haldir to take in...and so much change all at the same time! Losing Nieriel, finding out she new him and his mother when he was an elfling, his concern over Caladwen and now the possibility of finding his soul mate in her. The poor elf may need some therapy soon! ;) I can't wait for his reunion with Caladwen...it will be a sad occasion, but I think it will be good for both of them to share their losses.
Author's Response: Thank you for following along. I am home now and will be updating regularly. I hope it wasn't too much to throw out there at once. Hopefully, Haldir won't loose his sanity, lol. I was trying to get as much in as I could before I left town. The reunion will be bittersweet but a long time coming. Sorry it took a while for me to respond to your review but I had no wifi for the past week. What ever did we do before internet? Thanks again LisaG.
Oh *sniff!* Haldir is just so sweet and kind and caring in this chapter! Always there for Caladwen, but not smotheringly so. And he sent her flowers! *sigh!* I'm falling in love with this Haldir...I just hope he lets himself feel his losses, too from the earlier chapter and doesn't close his heart to his own sorrow. He seems to be making wonderful progress on opening his heart fully. :)
Author's Response: Thank you LisaG. I wanted to have Haldir resume his guardian role but not show too many emotions for Caladwen. She is grieving and it just wouldn't be right for these two to have feelings for each other yet. I'm glad to have brought out these emotions for you. Haldir seems like he could be easy to love (though Legolas might get jealous. He's been creeping back into my writers mind again). However, Haldir still has some issues and they will come forward before too long. Thanks again for your review.
Ah, always the caring and supportive Haldir...Caladwen is a lucky girl...elf...well, you know! It should be interesting to see what fate has in store for these 2 as they travel back home to Lorien. I wonder if Caladwen will stay for a while...for at least as long as it takes for these 2 to admit they belong together!
Author's Response: Caladwen will come into her own and discover what it is she's meant to do. Haldir on the other hand will become 'comfortable' as he returns home and resumes his original role as Marchwarden. It's kind of like when you go out for dinner; using the right fork, wiping your mouth with a napkin, elbows off the table. Then at home, you're eating Cheetos from the bag, slouching on the couch and wiping your orange fingertips on your shirt. Well, not me personally, but I'm married and have witnessed the ritual. Yeah, Haldir's kind of like that, minus the Cheetos lol ; )
LOL! Now you have me imagining Haldir laying on a chaise lounge in his talan eating Cheetos! Heaven forbid! ;)
Author's Response: It might make a good drabble though. Hehehe
Oh the ever vigilent Marchwarden, he guards his heart and soul as strictly as he does the borders of his beloved Lorien. Here's hoping Caladwen breaks down some of those walls around Haldir's heart. :)
Author's Response: All in good time my dear LisaG. He's a tough cookie to crack. Why do I keep referring to food when I think of him? There must be some innuendo there ; )
Oh Haldir! Men...er...ellon can be so dense sometimes! Getting him to admit his feelings may take a while.
Author's Response: I can't agree more. If they'd just listen to us women and ellith, things would be so much easier. Then again, I would't have a story lol.
I feel so bad for both Caladwen and Haldir! *sniff!* Haldir is so broken and scared right now...I hope Caladwen can truly help him heal.
Author's Response: Their time is coming my friend so grab your tissues. Things may happen soon. I better stop talking.
Oh dear! I was afraid something like this would happen! What a heartbreaking way for Haldir to finally admit his feelings for Caladwen...you'd better make sure she recovers or you'll have to find a talan to hide in yourself! ;)
Author's Response: Now, now... Do you think I would be so cruel? One little cliffhanger and they're ready to drag you through the streets. hehe ;-)
“I love you Caladwen. I love you and I need you in my life. Please come back to me. Please… Caladwen… I love you.” WOO HOO!!! :D
Author's Response: I think you might be the first one to quote something from one of my stories. Glad to have made you happy. You are too kind. ;-)
*big sigh* Ain't love grand?! :)
Author's Response: Yes it is LisaG... yes it is. *sighing with ya*
Uh oh...run for the hills Haldir! ;) Though I seriously doubt the Marchwarden of Lorien will be afraid of Legolas...but perhaps he would fear Legolas causing problems for him and Caladwen. Oh dear!
Author's Response: yeah, I believe Elves are more civilized than men. Still, I'm sure they wouldn't want their daughters marrying someone who's known for a lot of fooling around with different ellith.
Oh dear...this is not good! I fear they are going to part with this issue still between them and who knows how long before they can work through things. Well, maybe it's good that Haldir will have time to think about it and get past his fears.
Author's Response: Do not fear just yet. Things may not be as bad as they seem.
Oh goodie, they made up! :) *happy dance!* I love the way Eowyn snd Haldir tease each other...he's got a dry wit under that Marchwarden facade! :)
Author's Response: I don't know what it is about those two. When I first wrote a scene with them together, it seemed right. Eowyn and Haldir are two very stubborn people, both set in their ways. Neither one wants to give in to the other. Yet there is an understanding between them that no one else has. It is their little quirk and belongs to no one else but them. I'm glad you noticed it. They are some of my favorite parts to write.
