It is not so disappointing a chapter. Beautifully written - as we are accostumed by now with this wondorful story ;-) - and in fact I'm somewhat relieved:
Finally one of them lets Elrond in on this mess. Although I suspect that the Half-Elf won't really take action, he might just light up that totally dreary and hopeless situation at least by an ounce or two.

Insofar I'd say this is a key scene and I'll patiently wait for more, if I must.

Huh, that went ... better than I thought it would: I was afraid Erestor would start to mock Glorfindel. He really has grown bitter, not that I would fault him... personally I think that there are crimes that cannot be forgiven, and Glorfindel’s actions in Gondolin were really close to that.

But it was an excellent chapter, the characters are more realistic than in most stories I’ve read so far; although Glorfindel’s change of heart was rather drastic in my opinion. I would so like to read his version of the last months of his former life and maybe some thoughts of his time in Mandos, just to understand *why* he has changed so much...

Author's Response: And I certainly plan to do so. Those chapters are in the process of being written and the details will soon come out. Keep reading.... and reviewing :D

Wow... and that after such a large wedding. They will indeed be on everyone's lips...

And only few months more to live. The countdown has started. I wonder if Glorfindel will come to regret his decision during that time or only after his death...

I must say that for now you're doing your best to make me hate Glorfindel. I'd so like to throttle him until he's losing consciousness. Then I'd let him wake up and throttle him again.
If he had been honest about his love for Ecthelion, none of this would have happend. And the marriage would have only been for his benefit, Erestor losing every hope to be with the one he loves, Ecthelion being forced to marry a man when he is not even bi, let alone gay. He's so damn selfish and arrogant. One should now something like that about his best friend!

I hope that will resolve soon. He is after all one of my favorite LotR characters.

Nonetheless a nice chapter. I like king Turgon. His last sentence is so portentous, as if he knows something disastrous will happen soon...

A very evil cliffhanger ...
Anyway, still love the story!
But I'm afraid that the situation could not have been worse for Glorfindel to declare his love ... Erestor in his rage might just use this against him. Deadlocked situation. Curious if you'll bring it to a happy end...

Author's Response: I guess you'll just have to wait and see :) (supposed to be an evil smile, but it didn't work :D)

Wow. If I was Ecthelion I would never talk to Glorfindel again, or maybe once just to say: 'you tried to force me into marrying you because you didn't have the guts to approach me and now you dare to rant and rave when I turn the tables?! And don't you dare to ever get near me or my brother again.'
Honestly ... I am very curious how you're going to fix that mess.

Anyway love the story, finally something different again. And hate you for letting us poor souls wait so long for the rest ... ;-)

I must say I nearly stopped reading, finding Glorfindel's behaviour during the last chapters unforgivable and ... cowardly.

But this chapter was really good, reminding your readers that all of them are still adolescent.

So ... I'm going to continue reading, if you continue to write ;-)

Glorfindel had a day already to think about it all and this is all he comes up with? More accusations?

I so hope that Turgon trounces them ... not once did Glorfindel or Glorfael think about what they almost did to Ecthelion; although arranged marriages might be customary its not something that you do to your best friend just because you are too cowardly to ask them.

But the fault probably lies with Glorfael as much as Glorfindel, maybe more. Our golden elf is after all still awfully young and has been raised to be like this. But still, I am somewhat disappointed in his behaviour.

The only consolation is that obviously Glorfindel will have realised it all once he joines Elrond's household.

I really don't know what I like best: the chapters or the chapter notes?

Both hilarious!

Author's Response: :D Thanks. I'm glad you like it! Just wait until you get farther along, it gets better and better! I love that you chose to review this. Also, I'd like you to know that I'm working on a sequel. Already on chapter three! I hope you enjoy the rest of the story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The Peredhil by Melda Rated: PG-13 [Reviews - 19]
Summary: Haldir did not die on the Deeping Wall. He nearly did, though, but it was with the help of a mysterious maiden dressed as a man that he miraculously survived.

Nimwen is a peredhil who was born in secret and out of wedlock, but she looks more human than an Elf should. She is also disfigured, for in a fit of insane rage, her father sliced off the pointed tips of her ears, the one thing that showed her Elven heritage. She and her wet nurse take refuge in Helm's Deep, but when faced with the probability that they both will die, Nimwen refuses to give in without a fight. She disguises herself as a young man and heads out to defend the Deeping Wall.

... and then a cliffhanger?! Ulundo! ;-)
nice chapter, though, thank you for that, it really is appreciated. It's sweet to see how Haldir adores her and she's good for him as well, wonder if she ever saw that...
But she definitely needs someone to boost her confidence before she'll be able to adapt to the elven culture and be comfortable in it. Haldir's doing fine so far with that and this talk seems promising in that regard...

Thanks again! I am glad to accompany you on this story as well, you know? Keep it up!

Author's Response: I admit it was a tiny bit evil of me to leave you hanging like that, but I am not going to leave you in suspense for as long this time, I promise! :D

Nice chapter. You portrayed Bilbo very well in my opinion as the easy-going, talkative fellow that he is ;-)

Author's Response: Thank you! You don't know how much that means to me, especially since Bilbo is one of my favorite characters. He's dear to me because I see similarities between our ways of thinking. He's a bit eccentric, just like me and, like you said, talkactive as well as easy-going. Me to a 'T'.

a good question indeed. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with ... anything at this moment ;-) but I'm sure it will work out.

Galadriel the matchmaker ... :D

Author's Response: Yes, she is indeed. And don't worry, the cat fits in with the story.

Oh damn it, if I am spoiling anything, JUST DELETE MY STUPID COMMENT!!!

Really, so sorry for that.

Author's Response: Oh, that's alright. I liked that you were reading closely enough into the story to formulate what she should do. That means my character was real enough to be believable. I apreciate the fact that you reviewed this. :)

I guessed that her friends and family are what really keep her from choosing immortality and that is why I think it best she spoke to Elrond about it. If she stayed for Edith and Thorontur, it would still mean that she’d outlive them by some centuries, centuries she would spend alone and grieving. And yet we know that the elves still linger in Midlle Earth for some years after Sauron’s defeat. So she could still spend some time with her loved ones and then join the elves…

Author's Response: That's actually what I was considering doing.

She should speak with one of the other peredhil some day, that might really help her, especially as Elrond has knowledge of both choices.

Anyway, loved the chapter. Hope you'll update soon!

Author's Response: Yeah, she's really confused at this point. She's kinda torn between her growing feelings for Haldir and everything that she's ever known. Plus her friends and loved ones.

Very good chaptor, and don't worry, it definitely is not too angsty for my liking ;-)

But seeing her ears must have awoken Haldir's protective streak, one of the things I like most when reading about Haldir ...
off to go and read the rest

Author's Response: Glad you like it so far! And Haldir is definitly protective of her.

Awww, I was a little bit confused at the beginning as there was a really large time gap with some events I would have loved to read about, such as the moment Thorontur realised that his protégé was indeed a girl or how it came that both were venturing to the Black Gate.
But it was a well written chapter nonetheless, keep it up!

Author's Response: Thanks, I had the part you're talking about written out, but it was somehow deleted from my computer and I had to re-write the entire chapter, but I forgot what I'd written, and I knew it would never be as good as it was the first time, so I had to edit it out.

Short, but nice ;-)

If I didn't know better, I'd say Haldir wanted to give her something that would always occupy her mind and with it, Haldir...

But then he is not the type to be so calculating

Author's Response: Well, you never know with him. Of course, it might have something to do with Galadriel....not going to spoil anything for you, tho. :D

Great! I love it when someone makes Haldir survive, although I kind of think it consolatory to know where a fea would go to and that they can be reborn.
I like Nimwen, a strong girl ...

Author's Response: Yep. I like her, too. I think that she's my second favorite OC, my absolute favorite is Marie from my parody 'You've got Fanmail'.

Summary: Three years after their majorly epic and hilarious adventure, the gang is at one of their yearly celebrations and an accident happens. Marie is sucked through a portal and into an unknown Canon. Now, they must travel through a whole NEW set of Canons to find her and bring her home. Will they succeed? Or will Marie be forever beyond their reach?

"My wife [...] completely insane"
The funny thing - besides it being true - is: she would not even take offense!

And dare I say it: I always found that sparkling thing ridiculous! Wonder when Edward and Alucard are going for each other's jugular (nice saying, when referring to vampires :D ). Hope Alucard wins, I dislike Edward ... sparkling vampires, honestly!

Author's Response: You're right! She'd probably see it as a compliment. And personally, I despise Twilight and all related paraphranelia with my entire being. Alucard is the VAMP! He's definitly going to be at odds with Edward for a while, especially since burning or tearing him apart won't work like it would for our /dear/ Mr.Cullen.

Ooops ... well, they cannot expect Gandalf to simply know things like that ;-)
So basically there is a whole portal-SYSTEM between a dozen canons? Sounds like fun :D

And don't worry about the reviews, most readers are mostly lazy: I was, too, until I noticed how much a review means to an author when I started posting myself...
I really like this story, it's different than everything else, you know; and the read count tells you that it is indeed read by many people, doesn't it?
So take heart and continue writing, at least for yourself ... and me!

Author's Response: Thanks for the pep talk Massanie! :D I really needed that. I'm glad you think that the story is so unique. On that note, I'm planning a third installment. It's going to be a shorter sort of story, maybe not even twenty chapters, about the time that Marie and Gimli spent together before they were married. It's going to be called Gimli Meets the Parants. I can't wait to write that one, too.
