I CANNOT stop reading! I was up last night until 4 am, and will likely be up until 4 am again tonight, since I'm only on chapter 26. I'm not really sure what I'm rushing for, because one of the benefits of not starting a story until there are already 30+ chapters is never having the torment of a long wait for something new. I should be savoring this a bit at a time so that I never catch up, but...well, I just can't. I keep NEEDING to know what happens next. Well done. Thank you for this.
Author's Response: Aw! You're totally welcome! Thanks for your comment! readers like you are what make writing fan fictions worth it lol <3
Definitely worth the wait! Although, I had intended on reading just a little bit before bed - but got sucked into the whole chapter (really should have seen that coming). Ah well, two hours of sleep before work is enough, right?
Author's Response: Oh, no! I'm sorry about that! I'm flattered though that you'd sacrifice sleep to read something that I wrote. Make sure you get some sleep when you get home! lol
I was going to wait to review when I had gotten caught up on all the chapters, but I can't wait to say that the bickering between Eomer and Loti is just hilarious. So much to like in this story. Love it.
Author's Response: Well, thanks! I love to hear from new reveiwers! Phew, that chapter nine is a doozey, so i'm so glad you got through it all! They drive me nut sometimes with all their fighting, but they're both so damn stubborn and bullheaded. I've learned alot writing this. It's the first thing i've ever written, so there are some inconsistancies where i forced them to do things they shouldn't have done. You'll start to see a change in my style too. It's alot better now than it was. I hope you have been entertained and will keep reading and reviewing!
Sadness! I've finally caught up! Can't wait to see what happens next. It's really hard for me to believe this is your first story (I think I read that in another review?). This is one of my favorites ever (I read far more than I review). Especially love the dialogue (not just between Eomer and Loti), and love how these characters seem to be "real" people - warts and all! (And I'm with you - I like the barbarians, too.)
Author's Response: Thanks for reading and reviewing! It is always helpful to someone like me starting out. I do want to write real novel eventually. It's nice to have different perspectives from different people. I'm flattered you like this so much. Although writing romance if formula, love is certainly not. Relationships betweent he sexes are complicated. You can probably tell the first chapters are not that good. Hopefully I keep getting better as I go along, but sometimes, I still have no idea what i'm doing! I'm working on the next chapter right now!
Well, that was certainly a direction in which I did NOT expect this story to go! Wow. Just wow. Looking forward to chapter 9 (and all the subsequent ones).
The complexity of thoughts and emotions in this story fascinate me. Must take forever to write, but I'm thankful for the time you spend. This has gone in a completely different direction than the one I thought it was heading when I first started reading it. I'm curious to see where it goes next.
Author's Response: Aww, I'm so touched by your kind words, Branwyn! Indeed, the situation is what they call 'complicated', so I figured the thoughts and feelings of those involved should be, too.
As for the time I put in, from my point of view, I don't put enough, hehe. The writing as in 'typing' does not take that long, what does is waiting for the next bit to take proper shape somewhere in the far reaches of my mind :) I have the whole plot outlined till the end, but the small details of each chapter come into bieng only once the previous one is done and up - so yeah, it takes a while. Thanks for your patience!!
Will there be more to this story? Please say yes! Can't wait to find out what happens next!!
Author's Response: Yes - another chapter has just gone up!
And thank you so much for the positive feedback!!

I'm enjoying this story immensely! More please! :-)
Author's Response: Why thanks! Glad you like it. More coming soon.
This is such a great story. I have to say I was a bit sad when Terrwyn had to leave Minas Tirith and Roslach, but...well, I'm WAY over that now. Love the complexity of all the story lines and can't wait to see what happens next and how they all resolve (IF they all resolve).
Author's Response: Thanks Branwyn. There is still a lot of journeying to do as well as resolving. As for Rosloch, don't worry for him. If the muses cooperate, there might be a side story that will show his outcome, but that's still a while off.
Up until now, I've been reading and enjoying this story, content just to follow it wherever it goes. Now, I've gotten to the point where I'm hoping so much for a happy ending, that I feel a sense of anxiousness with each new chapter. Well done.
Author's Response: Glad you like it and thanks for taking a chance on a story like this. I know a story without canon characters is not at the top of everyone's list so I really appreciate any and all feedback. And to know I have hooked someone is a great feeling.
Wow. This is one of the most compelling stories I've ever read. Between the complexities of the emotions and the slowly revealed back-story...it's just incredible. So different and creative. Not to mention unbearably sad (but I don't mean that in a bad way). Bravo.
Author's Response: Oh my! Thank you for your generous words, Branwyn! I am truly honoured.
I used to joke that, although Aragorn/Arwen is a terribly romantic idea, it could never work. The first time he left the lid off the chamber pot, it would be all "I gave up my immortality for THIS???" Never thought to see something I considered humorous to be written so sadly and tragically. Poor Aragorn.
What can I say? I'm a sucker for an attractive man with little furry animals at the best of times, but I'll admit the "I will die" comment was probably hormonally fueled. *g*
So cute, and as Eowyn pointed out, clever (though I'll be honest and say that when Lothiriel asked how he knew, I pictured Graham Chapman in "The Holy Grail" saying "you have to know these things when you're a king" - sorry). I absolutely love the siblings. I've always secretly hoped someone would find a long-lost Tolkien manuscript of the Rohirrim. I'd absolutely devour it.
Author's Response: Thank you! Until this series popped into my head (thanks to Loreena McKennitt's ‘Wind that shakes the Barley’ CD) I never paid them much mind (although I liked Éomer) and when I watched the movies again to gain some feeling for them...I was hooked! I was impressed with the depth of the siblings relationship depicted in very subtle ways in the movie...maybe I noticed it because I have a big brother and our relationship is like that. Any way...I had similar thoughts going through my head when Éomer answered Lothiriel, too-LOL!
Now about "to die" are you familiar with the Shakespearean term? Used more often in Anthony and Cleopatra? "To die" (when Cleo says she would die a 1,000 times over) was actually referring to...yep, you might have guessed it...orgasms! yep so feel free "to die" whenever Éomer or any Rohirrim is about!
Smiles!
~G
Congratulations - you actually made Lady Battleaxe amuse me (by playing right into Elrohir's (and really, Arwen's) hands!) and I didn't think that could be done! :-D
Love the line "the chaperone was planning on...well, chaperoning." I may be giggling at that for a while.
Oh, and back to the cloak-wrapping: I just think that seems like such a sweet and simple thing. And I'm a sucker for that.
Author's Response: I am glad to have amused...hopefully it will not be the last time she is amusing (I am having fun writing her!) I am sure she was salivating the moment Elrohir walked in!
As for Claok wrapping...yah, romantic. Although it would wreak havoc on my rohirrim wrapping their cloak about a woman out of gallentry to keep them warm--however, in zee's story the cloak is clearly not just any cloak, but specifically the "Rider's Cloak" which might not be the same cloak worn as an outer cloak. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the chapter...more soon!
~G
Ooh, intrigue!! And may I just say that I think the line "find a girl, wrap her in your cloak, and let someone discover you in the morning" may be my favorite line of this entire story. Thus far.
Author's Response: Thanks! The cloak idea/concept is borrowed from my dear friend ZeeDrippy Vessel and her story "Rider of Rohan." Given everything going on in this story, I thought that idea fit perfectly for an ancient tradition that is looking pretty good right now! Can you see Lady Beriedis' reaction to THAT!?!? lol The intrigue is just beginning because nothing is ever that easy! Just waiting for more to come back from my Beta and then I can post! Hang tight! ~G
Much though I love the internet (for what would fan fiction be without it?), I must say I do regret the passing of the custom of letter-writing (though I was always terrible and lax at it, myself). It's nice that it still lives on (if only fictionally) between friends and would-be lovers.
As for the other meaning of "to die," I did, indeed, know it, though not from Shakespeare (my knowledge of the Bard is, sadly, not what it should be). I've heard of it through the French phrase "la petite mort," though I can't think now where I encountered it.
But back to the Rohirrim... Eowyn has been my favorite character from my first reading of the books (far too many years ago to admit to readily), and my love for Eomer no doubt comes from my life-long wish that I had an older brother; and I am fascinated that their relationship could be so detailed with such limited screen time. Said limited screen time, however, always makes me want more, and that's why I've enjoyed this series of stories so much. I'm now hoping for a glimpse of the wedding almost as much as the chance for Eomer to see Lothiriel again!
One last thing, and then I'll stop being so wordy (I apologize, by the way): I am a HUGE Loreena McKennitt fan and I love that she inspired this!!
Author's Response: Glad to know I am not the only one familiar with "to die!" lol. I was never grand at letter writing either, but there is something very intimate about it--as long as the letters stay private. You are hardy wordy and this is what I love about this sight! Reveiwers actually offer thoughts and go deeper than just "I am enjoying this.." Because of this site's comments, I added 2 chapters to an already written fic, wrote "The Miller's Daughter" and am now thinking of a major twist that woul require a re-write of at least 2 chapters I already have completed! But I do not mind cause it is fueled by the readers like you! Thank you!! As for Ms. Mckennett, she had inspired MANY on my tales--not just this seriese--and much of my life as of late. One of my Favorites now is the 7 Rejoyces of Mary. Ah, well, time to start my day, get some things done and then work on the re-write....I am so excited about it! After it is posted (some chapters down the road yet) I will share what was origionally intentded. Thank you again! ~G
Love it! Gamling and Eomer crack me up in so many ways. Thanks for a fun chapter!!
Author's Response: You're welcome! I always see them as mentor/prodigy--Eomer may be king, but he is still quite young where as Gamling as already served one king and trained Eomer. There is a friendship and mutual respect between them.
Oh, Beriedis. I've read this chapter three times now because I'm not quite sure how to take her outburst or its motivations. It will be interesting to see what comes of it. As for Lothiriel, speaking as the world's most non-confrontational person, it's nice to see she may be about to stand up for herself. I envy that.
Hope real life is a good kind of hectic. I have no problem waiting for updates as long as I know there will be some eventually.
Author's Response: So you seek to better understand Beriedis' rational---good! And I am like you in that I perfer to suck things up than have a confontation...although the confidence often comes with age and I am more willing now to speak up than I was when I was younger. It is something we all must learn to deal with and yes, sometimes we must be confrontational--Lothiriel is about the get quite the lesson. I have just sent the last chapters to my beta so while there might be some days between posting, the story and series does have an end. Thanks again! ~G
As a character in a movie once said, "Ooh...I do love a good intrigue." Coming here and seeing this updated is always a treat at the end of my day. Thanks for that!
Author's Response: Sorry for the delay in responding---holiday madness and slow muses! I am glad updates brighten the end of the day! I have one more to post and then I have to wait for my beta so send some back. Enjoy!
I apologize for the fact that this review will be even shorter than your chapter, but I must get some sleep before braving the crowds to do Christmas shopping. And I don't really have that much to say, anyway, except that I do so love little plot twists like characters with the ability to reveal all getting waylaid. :-D
Author's Response: Short and sweet! Glad you like twists, because I am not done yet... enjoy the next part!
