Unfortunate News
I'm afraid the site crashed over the weekend and the last backup the host had available was from August 5th. That means that anything that has been posted over the last month, including chapters, reviews and any new accounts that have been created are gone. I am so sorry about this and please believe that I am just as upset as you guys are. Unfortunately, this was a level above me and out of my hands.

We are going to be moving to a new host to ensure that something like this never happens again. It will also mean no more downtime and a site that is generally a lot more stable.

I am going to have to take down the forums and reinstall them after we move but everything else should be fine. Again, I am so sorry.

All data you may have added to the site over the past month will need to be added again but I promise you that nothing like this will happen in the future. I feel terrible.
Adora on Sep 05 2006 06:14 pm
Your kidding? *cries* i have posted nearly 38 stories in that month!!! *^$^^$&^*&! Dont feel terrible dora but dammit 38 stories includidng reviews!! Gone!!!
- So Yun on Sep 06 2006 12:22 am
I'm losing my mind too. I had 16 chapters of my story up and I didn't have a backup. There's just got to be someone who can find that stuff. I don't care if it isn't reposted if I could just get my story back.
- Elaura on Sep 06 2006 01:09 am
Hey, BTW. People who posted one or two chapters may be able to locate them through Google. Search for your title and penname. If you get a hit, click the "cached" link. The links on the resulting page won't work, but you might find something. Good Luck!

*screams and falls on the ground* my old account disappeared too during that time. this is my new one under the same name (couldn't find the old one). don't feel terrible, i had backup for everything i wrote though =3
- Enelya Shadow on Sep 06 2006 08:16 am
I know. I feel so STUPID! I've managed to scrape together some of it, but not much. It took the wind out of my writing sails. I don't know when I'm going to feel like getting back to it again.
- Elaura on Sep 06 2006 08:44 am
My whole account got deleted thankyou. Now I have to start all over again! I thought I had broken some obscure rule and got kicked off the site.
- Vanya Vasa on Sep 06 2006 01:58 pm
That's why Jesus saves... onto his hard drive. :)

I'm sorry. On a more serious note, it is a pain in the bum to re-upload everything, and I greatly sympathize with everyone else who's lost their work. I also thought I broke an obscure rule and got kicked off the site.

I dearly love this site but I know sheet happens. I have my stories posted to several sites , not only to be able to reach a larger audience ( daymn I am so modest lol) but also it is unlikely that every site will crash at once.My sincerest condolences to those who lost work . Do not let this discourage you! Post , post, and repost. Your stories are all worth reading or none of us would be here (G)
- aelfwine on Sep 07 2006 07:38 pm
well my procrastination in posting seems to have paid off...heh. I feel bad for all the rest of you guys. I only lost 1 review. *saves everything on computer before posting* I thought everyone did that... :(
- Nieriel on Sep 08 2006 02:53 pm
I thought everyone saved onto their computer too!! My teachers last year kept on lecturing us about last year...... I just can't post on my REAL won't let me in and I am not receiveing a new password!!
- Aerlinniel on Sep 08 2006 03:13 pm
And I had wondered what happened. Well, it will be a bit of pain to re-submit the last five chapters of my latest story (thankfully, I have them saved). But, like I always like to say, it could be worse.
- Beregond5 on Sep 08 2006 03:31 pm
Hmm... I can't re-submit the chapters for some reason. Is it a glitch? :-/
- Beregond5 on Sep 08 2006 03:49 pm
I only just joined the site, at first I thought I had done something wrong and been kicked off! I guess it didn't affect me too much as I'd only submitted one story before the crash, and I save everything onto my computer anyway. Still, I feel really bad for everyone that lost their work. That must really suck.
- ArwenUndomiel on Sep 08 2006 10:53 pm
Great! I lost all my stories and my whole account. Yeah, my stories weren't brilliant but this truly does suck! I wish I could repost them again but I had no back up.

However, we should certainly not blame Adoralyna. Lets just hope this move really does stop this happening again!

For what it is worth, I find this site well worth the trouble of rejoining and resubmitting my story to. As I only have one story here and had only 2 chapters up before the crash, it does not affect me so much. It also gave me a chance to make a few minor adjustments. I would join with aelfwine and suggest that as you are all such talented and prolific writers that you should post to more than one site so more people can enjoy your work.
While I know I would be upset if I had lost a lot more, I still understand that technology is not foolproof and that the site itself is not responsible for something that occured outside of their control. So I think by all means be angry but do not blame the site managers who give up their own time to make sure we have a site that we can all take pride in.
- Anise on Sep 09 2006 08:59 pm
Ah, so that's why. Thought there were a few things missing... a story... and the dates on the forum... hehe.

Please don't feel terrible, Adora. Stuff happens. I still think you're an ace webmaster and this site has let me meet some really wonderful people (which is more important to me than the fics or my reviews) so this incident doesn't affect my impression of this site a single bit. It's still wonderful. So thank you. (^____^)

By the way, I guess reinstalling the forums will mean that all those spamming members will disappear? At least for a bit? Wahoo, I say! XDXDXD

Hey, this is a very well put together site and it has been up for a very long time. Statistically, it was due for a crash. The only thing that bothers me is that it was only 24 hours before attempts to restore it were abandoned and the apologies started. It should have been possible to recover something. On the other hand, I certainly understand when the people at the "higher level" just will NOT work with you. I work with computers at my day job, they do have their limits. I'm sticking around, I hope everyone else does too.
- Elaura on Sep 12 2006 01:58 pm

- aelfwine on Sep 14 2006 08:04 pm
The forum is working fine for me. Try again, aelfwine.

Me too... I was here a while ago and read this and found out my account was deleted, with some of my stories. I think I had two up... *sigh*
Oh well... they needed revised anyway I suppose...
- Star on Sep 16 2006 07:52 pm
I guess this is a lesson to us all to save an extra copy of whatever we write... =3
- Enelya Shadow on Sep 19 2006 08:28 am
Yes, i do too as it seemed lost some reviews...
