Wonderful little piece! I can see Gimli and feel his anxiety so well here. And I'd do the exact same thing he did--snuggle close to the Elf. ;-)
Author's Response: Thank you Mel, I know you would! Me too. One on each side, but you will have recognised it as a precursor to Sons.
I love it. Gimli is such an amazing character and not many people write stories about him. *bows deeply* I thank you. :)
Author's Response: Thank you Melda. I love getting reviews on stories I have written some time ago- it means they are still living- you know what i mean? It is actually a bit of a cheat - spoliers for Sons of Thunder where Gimli has a really important part. But I have something quielty gestating for Gimli - he is, as you say, a very overlooked character.
I absolutely adore Legolas/Gimli, and I admire those who can write them. This is such a wonderful little gem, and yet I see from the reviews section that you may have a longer fic leading on from this... when can we see it? *g*
Author's Response: My favourite relationship to write actually and they stay such a constant. Thank you for your comment and appreciaition. I am quite fond of this but and it gave me chance to polish it off and put it in a setting on its own, to continue your ind metaphor. Yes- a ne story. Will be out soon... very soon. Next weekend probably.
This is absolutely wonderful. Gimli has shown his fearlessness so mant times and I'm sure he has stepped between his Elven friend and a deadly ememy before. He was the bravest one to talk down Sauruman in the last chapter of your Deeper than Breathing. But even the bravest warrior must have some fear. I love Gimli even more than ever now that I see a vulnerable spot. Who could fail to find comfort cuddled to Legolas? I like L8's description of him as an Elven night light.
Thank you for *my* drabble. I look to the most recent collumn every time I log on with hopes of seeing something from one of my beloved favorite authors. My heart always skips a beat when I see you have a treat for us. Love you.
Author's Response: It's a pleasure my dear. Gimli is a treasure, and Legolas knows that too. I am glad you like him- he is hte perfect foil for our elf, isnt he. I hope to get the next chapter posted today if I get time. Just for you.
There's nothing as comforting as a friend. (Though the last two sentences suggest a slash angle . . .) I've had the idea for a while that it would be good to hear more about the ride to the sea from the Paths of the Dead from their points of view, since the books are very omniscient narratory at that point. I'd love to see you add to this and tell more of that story.
Author's Response: Funny you should say that... the sequel to Deeper then breathing starts just beyond the Paths of the Dead. As you say, it is much underwritten! Coming soon. And I have a confession- this drabble is from the opening chapter- I just thought it made a nice drabble all on its own.
Gimli's so cute in this, curling up to Legolas for comfort and safety. I guess that elvish glow makes a good nightlight. I wanna take Gimli's place. *hehe* ; - )
Author's Response: I'll fight you for it!! OK- take turns then. Legolas would be really warm, don't you think?
